Dominique Gallard helped me learn French for several years. I had individual lessons for one hour each week and they were always fun and motivating. She was well-prepared and the grammar and vocabulary exercises she gave me were very useful. Together we discussed and studied French history and culture, politics, cooking and music (I even learned La Marseillaise). I sat and passed the interview for French citizenship in 2017 and now I am a French citizen, which I’m very proud and happy about. Dominique is an excellent French teacher and has become a very good friend.
Judith A, Roquefort les Pins, March 2018

I’ve taken different French lessons but I really like Dominique’s because she taught me as much about the culture, French ways and daily life in France as about grammar. Moreover, we meet people from lots of different backgrounds and cultures so the experience is even richer. Thank you so much, Dominique.
Fabiola G, Sophia Antipolis, April 2018

I followed the French course with Dominique for several years because it gave me great pleasure to learn French with her. She is always very well prepared, motivated and professional. The lessons are never dull, but have a good framework. I appreciate her commitment and patience. Thank you, Dominique.
Esra, Valbonne, April 2018

Dominique is very competent, dynamic and kind. I feel at ease to communicate. I find her method excellent. The lessons cover the domains of writing, oral comprehension, conversation and French culture. The subjects of conversation are current and interesting. I strongly recommend this teacher.
Mert, Sophia -Antipolis, April 2018

I am Spanish and I started to learn French with Dominique Gallard on my arrival in France several years ago. It is mainly thanks to her lessons that I was able to quickly learn the language and be entirely operational in French in my work and my daily life.
Carmen, Opio, November 2017

Dominique Gallard was my French teacher for several successful years. She’s really thorough and that helps dramatically to improve on the areas that are weaker than others. Her program was always varied and topical and yet flexible enough to incorporate my specific needs.  Her experience and knowledge especially helped me integrate into french life quickly and her high quality teaching methods helped accelerate my written, read and oral language needed for my job. Having tried other language schools and private teachers that left me frustrated with slow progress….I highly recommend lessons in her capable hands.

The most widely spoken mother tongue in Europe, German is principally spoken in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the South Tyrol region of Italy and in the east of Belgium.

Among the most important of France’s economic partners, Germany and the German-speaking countries offer plenty of opportunities in terms of work, business and training.

Are you moving to a German speaking country? Speaking the language allows you to integrate well and better understand these different European cultures.

Would you like to learn the language of your clients and partners. German is used on a daily basis by many of the companies based in Sophia Antipolis (Bayer Crops, SAP Labs etc).

Germans are great travellers and each year the PACA region welcomes large numbers of German-speaking tourists. What’s more, the numbers are constantly rising. To welcome them properly, being able to speak German is a real asset.

German is a language that connects Europe. While reading Goethe or Schopenhauer in their native language might be your goal, simply understanding our European neighbours is a great way for us all to get along.

Who is it for?

For adults or students who wish to learn (beginners), improve (intermediates) or perfect (advanced) their German for private or professional needs. For people wishing to pick up German again after school or University.

For businesses whose employees have regular interactions with German-speaking clients or who make frequent trips to Germany or to German-speaking countries.

The courses in German (levels A1 to C2) are eligible for the ‘Compte Personnel de Formation’ (CPF).

A cultural and linguistic approach to a language which has a reputation for being difficult to learn.

Together we will discover that while this important European language requires efforts to perfect the rules of grammar but, unlike French, the spelling and pronunciation hold no surprise.

Enriched by a great deal of academic and professional experience in Germany, and in constant contact with the country, I suggest:

– Courses to learn or to progress in both spoken and written German. Theses lessons will be adapted to your needs and objectives, to your level and to your ability.

– Help with preparation for the Goethe-Zertifikat.

– An assessment at our first meeting to see where you are starting from and to establish a customised programme.

Dominique Gallard is a serious, competent teacher who listens to all her students. Her German lessons are varied (conversation, texts, grammar, listening to texts and dialogues). During the 3 years that I’ve been doing her course, I’ve never been bored and I’ve learned a lot. I strongly recommend this teacher.
Corinne S, Valbonne, April 2018

I participated for 6 months in a course given by Dominique Gallard in Sophia Antipolis in 2016 and it allowed me to revise my German that escaped me a long time ago. I did 7 years at school but without practising and I had almost entirely lost it. The lessons with Dominique were very interesting and allowed me to regain my confidence and today I have moved to Germany where I work!!
Antoine L, Potsdam, Germany, April 2018

At the moment, Dominique is once again my teacher (I learned French with her when I arrived in France) because she also teaches German and I decided to pick up the language that I’d learned at school. With Dominique, it is always a pleasure to learn a language, you progress quickly and her lessons are interesting.
Carmen L, Opio, November 2017

I’ve picked up the German that I learned in Canada because I needed a direct link with my German and Austrian clients at work. The lessons with Dominique are a pleasure because they are varied and motivating. I’m planning to sit the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 soon.

I can help you!

  • Learning a language by internet or from an app can be a useful addition but is never a replacement for having a teacher with you.
  • For me, teaching is about transmitting, exchanging and sharing knowledge.
  • It is about throwing yourself into a dynamic and open working environment.
  • I’m passionate about modern languages.
  • I understand all the demands of learning a language.
  • My professional and private environment is multicultural and multilingual.
  • Professionally qualified and experienced, I trained in Germany and in France.

Qualifications

For teaching French as a Foreign Language, I hold a degree from FAU Erlangen-Nurnberg. Similarly, I am qualified as an examiner/marker for the DELF A1 to B2 (authorized by CIEP) and I am attached to the examination centre at the Institut Français in Berlin. I am extremely familiar with the content of the exams.

I hold a Masters degree in German (FAU Erlangen-Nurnberg and Sorbonne) and have successfully passed the German CAPES. For academic and professional reasons, I lived for almost two enriching decades in Germany. As  a lover of that country, I regularly return to Germany for work and pleasure.

Experience

My professional experience in teaching adults French/German as a Foreign Language ranges from beginners to experts (A1 to C2 of the CERCL) and is as follows:

In Germany: University of Erlangen-Nurnberg, the Nurnberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, VHS Language School.

In France: GRETA Language Centre in Valbonne; DIF courses in several organisations in Sophia Antipolis including Bayercrops, INRIA, Intel, Nusil, SAP labs. I’ve accompanied several people in their journey to acquire the language skills necessary for French citizenship (Level B1 required).

Since 2000, I’ve also been teaching French as a Foreign Language at AHPSA, a dynamic association in Valbonne, which among other things is known for teaching modern languages.

My organisation, which was created in 2012, has taught French and German to more than 100 professionals in the Sophia Antipolis area. SAP Labs in Mougins and many other students have entrusted their confidence in me from the beginning and continue to do so (see Testimonials). It received the Datadock referencing, which means quality control of the training.
